Ram Lalla Idol Consecrated At Ram Mandir As PM Modi Performs 'Pran Prathistha'

The consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya took place today with Prime Minister Narendra Modi performing the rituals. The new Ram Lalla idol was consecrated at the 161-feet tall pink sandstone shrine during the hour-long 'pran pratishtha' ceremony.
PM Modi, dressed on cream dhoti, offered flowers at the feet of the idol and performed an aarti.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who led the consecration ceremony, offered his prayers to the deity. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was also present.
PM Modi walked to the temple with an offering in hand and climbed up the stairs to entre the grand structure.
The Ayodhya Ram Temple holds immense importance as one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ram.
The 51-inch idol, carved from black stone, was dressed in a yellow dhoti with a golden crown, necklaces, holding a golden bow and arrow.
The first visuals of the idol of Ram Lalla, that depicts Lord Ram as a five-year-old child, adorned in gold jewellery were revealed after the consecration ceremony today.
Several film stars and Bollywood celebrities also attended the mega consecration ceremony led by PM Modi at the newly-constructed Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Prime minister Narendra Modi also performed a "dandavat pranam" to the idol after the consecration ceremony.
